From top to bottom you can build your sentences. From bottom to top you can build your questions. For statements, always begin with the personal pronoun „I-you-he-she-it-we-you or they“, then the action that you require. Only after that can you complete the sentence with place and time. Note „he“-„she“-„it“ must have an “s”. “I work”, but “he works”. I work here every year. With questions, you begin from the bottom up. If, for instance, you would like to use the question word “why”, begin with this word. Then use “do” to indicate the present tense with “1, you, we and they” and “does” for “he, she and it”, then the personal pronoun and the desired action. Finally, if you’d like, add the place and the time. If you do not require a question word, leave it out and continue building your question as just described. Note! “Does” already has an “s” so you do not need another “s” in the action verb. (Why) do you work here? (Why) does he work here? 1. Note: „he-she-it-they“ can be defined even more, if you’d like. Instead of “he” you can replace it with a first name; instead of “it”, you can name the thing such as “The shop”. The shop opens at 8 o’clock. 2. Note: „Do“ and „does“ are replaced with the following words: can , may , should , must and the verb to be: „am, are und is“, which replace action verbs.
May I help you? (Why) Should I call John? Are you in London?
